Technology Framework
SkillsTrac is a user friendly, central web-based web application that runs on the Microsoft .NET 2.0 platform. This platform was built and designed for Internet Explorer 6.0 and higher, all Mozilla Firefox versions and Google Chrome. The Ajax Control Toolkit makes the web interface user friendly and simplifies process flow.
Skillstrac can be accessed from any internet connection and requires minimum bandwidth speed of 512mbs.
Security
The Forms authentication implemented uses an authentication ticket that is created when a user logs on to a site to track the user throughout the site. This inhibits the user to access program or user restricted areas.
Stored procedures are encrypted which makes the database secure in a way that malicious users will not be able to view the stored procedures or understand how data are retrieved from the database.
Database Platform
The Database Engine used by SkillsTrac is Microsoft SQL Server 2005. This database engine allows for the web application to connect and communicate with the database as fast as possible.
Data Import
Database design, allow for data from programs such as SAP, VIP Payroll etc to be imported easily into the SkillsTrac Database.
Updates and Backups
Data Backups are made daily by the Hosting Provider – Web Africa.
Updates are rolled out once a month if necessary. Bug fixes are rolled out as soon as fixes are available. Users will always be notified about rollout and therefore their activity on SkillsTrac web application will not be interrupted unexpectedly.
Self Hosting
Although SkillsTrac is hosted on a central, shared server, companies which have the infrastructure to host websites locally will be able to do so.
